NEW LOGO CONTEST FOR 4.13 ($50 BOUNTY)

Postby gubatron » Tue Nov 07, 2006 5:34 pm

[UPDATED]: Due to urgency, we're adding a $50 bounty

We want to make the new logo for 4.13 based on the image of a frozen barbed wire. To picture this in your mind easily here's two pictures.

We ran searches on the internet for "Frost Wire", "Frozen Wire" and we came across barbed wires. Then it makes sense to imagine the network as a bunch of barbed wires interconnected to each other, I'm not sure how this metaphorically has to do with us, but it certainly looks tough, strong, rebel, and even if you cut the barbed wire, its a whole network of nodes... the fact that barbed wire looks so cool and so iconic has made us lean towards this idea for 4.13, and hopefully we'll be able to keep this image for a long time.

We feel strongly that the barbed wire will help identify the project very easily, so with the following pictures in mind, we'd like to get some help from graphic designers of the Frostwire community, to obtain a Vector Image of a Frozen barbed Wire, preferably enclosed in sort some of circle, or squared canvas.

Let's try to avoid 3D effects, we want this logo to be as portable and easy to print and draw as possible. Just see other logos like Napster and you'll see how simple, yet iconic these logos are.

We are looking for a 2D logo, that represents the Barbed Wire Node, in the style of the Napster logo. See how simple Napster logo is to draw in any surface, and how easy to identify since its so iconic, as of now our project has no iconic identity, we feel strongly about the Barbed Wire.

The name of the graphic designer, and a link to his/her portfolio will be included on the FrostWire credits if the author of the logo wants it so.

Will we actually have software to go with the logo, or just the logo and no software like last time? :P

Do we have a winner already?

This is pretty much what we're asking for.
What do you think???

Looks fine to me, but to reiterate, let's get the new code out. Don't make me have to break something.

Don't want to promise when exactly this weekend we'll have installers but the hardest part of the packaging is over.

We've integrated the chat, and its configuration options, disabled all the filters, now we're just dealing with the branding and making sure its FrostWire all over the place.

Due to lack of time we couldn't finish it last night, but tonight we hope to work on this and hopefully have a release on saturday.

If someone has experience packaging in Mac OS X, it will be appreciated, so far we easily got the Windows, Ubuntu and Zip installers.

I can make a osx package as I did the for past FW releases, I'll need the original .png to make the icon for osx. You know my email.

Ciao
