Hey guys,
Just loaded up 5.0.8 and now I have the same problem, splash screen at start-up freezes and you can't close it down. I am using Windows Vista Pro OS and all other internet and email functions still work, just this square picture in the middle of my screen!! Hope you can work out what the problem is.
Cheers

This does seem to be a bit of a problem.

Please first go to The Java Site and check you have the latest Java installed.

If you could let us know if this helps or not it will help us and others a lot :)

Hi again to everyone, just further to this, the only way I have found to overcome this freezing at start-up, is to get into the "start task manager" in windows, go to "processes" and find the frostwire .exe file and end that process. Cancels the program and generally, next time you go to start it, it fire up fully. Hope that helps with the fault finding.

marlute, could you please see if you can do the following which will help us work out the problem:

go to the folder it installed to (C:\Program Files\FrostWire 5) and doubleclick the runRelease.bat file to start FrostWire 5 with logging via command console. When you run into a problem it should be logged in the console window where you can right click, select all, press Enter or Ctrl+C to copy, then paste here for the developers to review.

Hi Hobo, seems like the program has been working ok the last few days, but did run the .bat file and this is what showed up. I gather that this is what it should do, as the program then opened. I will try over the next week or so and see if it happens again and post to you any problems.
Cheers,
Stewart
