Suggest Legal Free Content

Postby gubatron » Wed Dec 17, 2008 1:04 pm

Use this thread to send suggestions of FREE content, preferably under Creative Commons license of:
    Bands
    Singers
    Videos
    Short Films
    Feature Films
    eBooks
    Photography
    Video Games
    Software

We'll be defining guidelines on the quality of the content that we are trying to promote to the entire user base via FrostWire.

As of now, we're trying to reach a consensus on the desired trajectory of the artist in the case of bands. We don't want to annoy people with things that are way too experimental, unless they're irrevocably awesome. Since there have been so many submissions ever since we started promoting artists by so many bands, musicians, and wanna be musicians, we'd like these submissions from artists that preferably have recorded one or more full EPs with professional sound, people that are taking themselves seriously in music so that we can best use the promotional space on persons that might have a shot at making it big with their talent.

Since we believe in the power of communities, we'll start on these threads, and on all the email submissions to kademlia at frostwire dot com to make candidate lists. We'll then post 4 or 5 candidates everyweek on frostclick.com, we'll put music samples and brief reviews on these artists, and we'll open up polls for the community to vote on the next artist to be promoted in FrostWire.

As of now, we've tried to select great content and put it on the spotlight for enough time to get plenty of peers to seed their files, so that even if we take the torrent out of the tracker, they can be found with gnutella search (keyword based search)

So, let's hear it.

Hi I run MegaPlatinum.net. a rock punk and metal site. We just released our first movie and also a compilation of bands from The Trash Bar in Brooklyn NY. The whole project was released under the creative commons. Currently they''re only on mininova. I'd love to include them here as well. We really hope to get as much exposure for our artists' as possible.

You can see them currently at:

http://torrents.megaplatinum.net

How can we get those torrents posted over here?

Been looking around alittle bit here and there. Not sure what to recommend but I'll keep tabs on this thread in the future. Would like to see many more applications and possibly links to GPL/CC/GNU stuff.

Personally I like to use KDE4Windows you can find it here. It's an excellent "step-stool" app suite. Got hooked on Konversation back when I was playing with linux more. Why not have it on both OS? You can find the link and more info here. ^__^ http://windows.kde.org/

By no means is this "stable" or reliable. Personally I've had great luck with it.

My name is William Todd Rose and I'm a dark fiction author. My previous publishing credits include the experimental horror novella Shadow of the Woodpile and the apocalyptic thriller Cry Havoc. To help promote my forthcoming novel from Library of the Living Dead Press, The Dead & Dying, I have recently released a free ebook entitled Sex in the Time of Zombies that explores the roles sex and sexuality may play in an undead apocalypse. It is governed by a creative commons liscence and is available for download @ www.williamtoddrose.com

"John Micah Rapp is one adventurous musician. Since January, he’s been producing one song per day, and one album per month. His Fantômas-ish journey has given lots of good harvests - part of it is collected in the M(((O)))(((O)))N album."

I'm making 365 theme songs, one for each day of the year. You can download them all free from Last FM:

Be cool if you featured this!

Thanks,
