Lets see where shall i begin...

I have started this topic for ALL those who feel hard done by in Frostwire Chat, idea is to keep all posts relating to users grievances.complaints,moans,gripes whatever you feel you need to bring to the attention of the chat staff or opers all nice and in the one place instead of dotted all over the forum.

There is 111111 (at time of post) other users of frostwire many that have no interest in the chat side of things, afterall this is a Frostwire Support Forum. I can imagine its giving the developers a sore head also.

If you have a complaint feel free to post it in here instead of random anywhere on the forum, there is however a few conditions before you do...

1. Have any logs close to hand as no log no reply/action.
2. Any apparent bad mouthing or targetting another user, post will be removed.
3. DONT post here if you were banned from main or any other official room less than 48hrs ago. NO PRIVATE ROOM ISSUES.
4. Unless DIRECTLY involved in any topics in here, DONT bother posting.

Can you please deal with the annoying scripts...half the ppl that use them add ppl to ****lists and they dont even know how to remove them...and they have floodbots that disrupt everything

Staff cant really enforce what scripts chatters use unless they contain War Scripts or other malicious content.
as far as blacklists that is down to the user to understand the script they are using.

a malicious script would be one that had built in commands that allowed a user to flood rooms, mass invite or other nasty content, a poorly educated person with any old standard script cant be deamed as malicious.

A note to all though before downloading any old script...

Since IRC scripts are used to interface with a public network, they are a favourable target for attack. Event handling code must be careful when dealing with input received from other IRC users; a poorly written IRC script may leave the user vulnerable, allowing attackers to possibly read the user's passwords or private conversations, execute arbitrary commands in the user's IRC client, or access files on the user's hard disk.

IRC Scripts downloaded from public web sites or received from other IRC users may contain backdoors or similar malicious commands. Some users prefer to write their own IRC scripts to avoid the potential problems caused by a malicious or buggy script.

I was banned from the main chatroom minutes ago, and I know, that, for this reason, I shouldn't be posting here, but I do not want to run the risk of forgetting about this.

I typed in all caps, and was kicked out of the room. From then on, I followed the rule; no caps. I followed all of the other rules. no swearing, no inappropriate content, no repitition. All of that. I commented at normal intervals. And, yes, I did voice my opinion on the rule of no caps. I find it unfair, and I said so. Mind you, I did not do it disrespectfully, at least, I don't believe I did. I was spoken to condescendingly by a host. I was called, 'princess', in a context that seemed more rude and snide than endeared. I was later banned from the room with only a message that consisted of something about me being a 'lamer' (not quite sure what that is) and '^^' which I'm pretty sure implies happiness.

I feel mistreated. I followed the rules.

You did not mean to be disrespectful? Well as you said you didnt believe you did but that log shows that you were. The host explained that caps in the #main room is considered yelling and you kept on going on about it.

Then you you followed that up by calling the chat North Korea and Nazi Germany. Thing is the chat is the exact opposite because the host not only took time to explain the reason for no caps she even warned several times.

You feel mistreated yet how do you think the host felt with you making comments like that? A host moderates the chat and enforces rules. When a person comes in and complains about the rules and makes little side comments like that it causes a disruption. That disruptions is then removed to protect the flow of the chat. In this case you were a disruption.

Hope this clears up why you were banned if you can't understand it from the log alone.

Didn't realize the internet wasn't a free place to express opinions. Sorry. Next time I'll check to make sure I'm not currently under the rule of a totalitarianism government. Keep that secret police on the lookout.


(also, I'm aware that not only did it originally seem as though I was being difficult just for the sake of being difficult, but also it seems that way, now, but, honestly, it's really just a part of my personality to speak in elongated sentences and to point out things that I feel are unfair. [I'm a bit of an activist] And, really, I wasn't intending to be a total jerk, or anything. Cynicism is a natural element of people where I come from. In fact, all we do is sarcastically insult and correct each other, so, it's just what I'm used to.)
