Frostwire crashing / losing searches

Postby martyyates » Wed Mar 29, 2006 3:56 pm

Hi guys,
2x over the last week, FW has crashed during the night resulting in the PC (XP) freezing. A cold reboot is then the only option. On re-launching FW, all search results have gone (confirmed by a FW error msg).

*Possibly* it had something to do with the Windows screensaver (as it was running when I turned the screen back on in the morning) - this has since been disabled. Power settings are not to turn off the HDD ever.

Otherwise, top app and great speeds esp cf. to Limewire.

- Marty.

Can you post a crash report?

It is possible it is your screen caver I was recently having problem wit the windows 3D Flying Objects screen saver it was encountering problems then shutting down it would then post an error message. I do not know if it would cause the problem you are having or not. I never had Frostwire running when I noticed the problem. I switched my screen saver to My Pictures Slide show and have not had a problem since.

I have a feeling the screen saver problem came with one of the windows updates due to the fact I hadn't changed any settings or installed any new software when the problem started. But I do have my machine set to auto update.

You might try a different screen saver and see if it continues to happen. If you are using a 3D screen saver try something different.

thanks guys. Will get a screen shot of the error next time it occurs.
"Crash report"? - like a Dr Watson internal XP thing?

Have disabled the s/saver as well - don't need it.

My "screensaver" is the monitor off button..... Works like a charm and requires no ram/memory....
