Chat window is always on top, hiding the menus.

For some reason the option to see the chat was still enabled on linux, we had decided to hide it for a while since it crashes the application in 2 of my linux machine and we're trying to fix the bug.

fw, The bug you mention, are you running on what Linux distro, can you do a
uname -a
and a java -version for me?

A new .deb has just been published and it hides the chat from linux users, until we figure out a way to fix the crash problem, and the lightweight and heavyweight problems.

I am running Debian (etch, mostly). My kernel is 2.6.18 something (customized) and Java 1.5.0_7 (packaged by Markus Kolb). I don't have my laptop with me right now to give you exact output for the commands. I will try to post back later this afternoon or evening. I haven't had any problem with the program crashing.

For those who want a RPM, you can generate a .rpm from a .deb with alien. Just install alien from the anaconda or distro package installer. Then go in terminal, go to the .deb directory and type "sudo alien -r frostwire-4.13.1.i586.deb"

For me the one liner command is: "cd Desktop ; sudo alien -r frostwire-4.13.1.i586.deb"

Just tell us if the binary identified as frostwire-4.13.1-2.noarch.rpm works for you.

Ciao

All running fine on my Ubuntu Edgy box - had to install java as follows:

Visit java index here:
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
choose Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9 accept license agreement and download the Linux self-extracting file: jre-1_5_0_09-linux-i586.bin to Desktop

then enter in Gnome terminal

Code: Select all

cd Desktop
sudo apt-get install java-package

Then

Code: Select all

fakeroot make-jpkg jre-1_5_0_09-linux-i586.bin

Then

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg -i sun-j2re1.5_1.5.0+update09_i386.deb

With all other programs closed, then used Gubatron's method for installing Frostwire from the blog :)

Looks great thanks all :)

Options->Chat seems to throw errors a good amount of the time. Also, has IP filtering been taken out? I don't see it anywhere.
