Man, this is such an old post. I am using Ubuntu 12.04 now. I am completely off the mark. I am confused as to which version I should go for. I have this latest version Ubuntu 13.04 and I have got this Ubuntu 12.04. The later provides extended support but the former provides more features. Which one should I go for mate?

The gnutella net, on which FW 4 is based, for all effective purposes, is dead or compromised. I wouldn't waste my time on it. You should be able to find a current FW 5.x.x that is compatible with Ubuntu. Go for that. You may need to be aware of the java version your are using - not sure if Ubuntu FW comes with a bundled java or not.
