Do what I do. Use the drag bar to close that portion. Hard to click on what's not there!

FW used to preserve (see that that bar had been dragged up) but no longer does that, sigh.

I'm not sure what you are saying. When I close it, that area goes away. I do see the top line, but that's easy to NOT click on. That big fat logo in the middle is rather obnoxious and is far to easy to hit by accident. That I CAN get rid of.

If you move the line up (shows more transfer lines in the transfer) the logo is covered up. Later on, close FW.
When FW is opened for another session it doesn't remember that you moved the line up.
It used to do it but it's memory ain't so good no mo.

That could a W8 issue. Mine does remember! There are folks who could probably get Win7 working on your computer. It might be worth the effort.

The bar across the top of the Application contains Search - Library - Chat on the left and the player on the right. Almost all the central part containing the Frostwire logo is clckable, opening the Home page in ones browser. This is what the OP was referring to.

Which is why I use the drag bar to close it.

um there is a drag bar to close the search window -- this is the strip across the top which is as I described - and I am forever clicking on it inadvertently and getting the home page come up Mac OS X by the way but I would imagine all versions are the same in that respect ... I'm off to bed --screenshot tomorrow if you like :)
