I have been experiencing poor performance in my laptop and it often gives me warnings (my anti-virus). I guess there are viruses in my laptop but I don’t understand how there could be one as I always had anti-virus activated. Recently I went through VPN services and most of them said something about protection, Does VPN offer protection against Virus?

No. VPN provides security by encrypting and decrypting data that passes through a VPN connection; it does not offer protection from viruses.

As far as i know. you never know your vpn may offer virus software . when in doubt ask them :)

I would recommend checking into your Anti virus software itself.
As i know a lot of software out there offer false positives, or miss categorise a tracking cookie as something more severe than it actually is.

I've been using AVG for years and since switching from things like Norton or the more higher established brands have experienced a hell of a lot less problems when it comes to virus pop's or overall interference when your trying to download or play games.

Downloading an unsafe file prone to viruses, over p2p, might potentially install rootkits, malwares, or viruses. Antivirus provides you the system level security to scan and remove viruses from your local PC.

While a VPN (Virtual Private Network), provides you protection from hackers at networking level, so that you are anonymous and untraceable while torrenting or visiting websites. It also provides bypassing geo-restrictions or blockage, might I say where p2p programs are banned.

Not really. VPN definately provides you security against network eavesdropping but, it does not offer security against other Internet threats. The core purpose of Virtual Private Network is to secure your privacy and hide your online identity.

If you are specific to FrostWire than they officially recommend ExpressVPN. FrostWire team has written an excellent blog about why you need VPN which provides you better idea about what actually VPN offer.

The measure reason of developing a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to stop malware attacks and data snoopers which come through the internet. Many system antivirus software have limited features they cannot detect the virus through emails and other channels. So I consider VPN as the best software for security and privacy.

Hi if you are looking work safe then it's always important to use some trusted VPN's, For example, if we are choosing free VPN or proxies than there is a possibility of malware or any suspicious activity detected. I have always preferred Premium VPN or Proxy services. I suggest you go for
Microleaves Proxies or VPN which provides Antivirus protection with reasonable rates. I am using it since 1 year and do not face any single issue of suspicious activity. Be safe and Keep safe.

That's right that you should check first good and professional and trusted VPN. I'm using Pure VPN. What do you think about that?
but I never get any messages about virus or malware, so I believe you won't get any protection.

A VPN doesn't provide any malware or virus protection, a VPN provides u an encrypted connection and masks your original IP address, so you can pretend to be somewhere else, this helps you in bypass geo-blocked services or content, all in all its makes you anonymous while making your connection secure, I have been a fast VPN which has wide range of servers, I can easily access US Netflix and stream videos without compromising on Bandwidth

Hay, angelaandrea, VPN is providing only data encrypting security. It doesn't offer virus protection. I use VPN, and I don't find any such kind of services.

A VPN connection is simply an encrypted connection to the internet, VPN stands for Virtual Private Network.
You can still download a malicious file through a VPN connection.

If you want virus protection you need to have an up to date antivirus and common sense.
