4.20.7 crashes at launch on Mac Leopard

Postby vendion » Wed Jul 07, 2010 9:56 pm

After installing 4.20.7 and trying to launch it I get a report that it has crashes and clicking the "Send" button doesn't do anything, kind of why I am posting the report here. The backtrace I get is as follows:
Code: Select all
FrostWire version 4.20.7
Java version 1.5.0_24 from Apple Inc.
Mac OS X v. 10.5.8 on ppc
Free/total memory: 60871800/66387968

Try going down the previous versions until it works again, then report which one worked.

I had the EXACT same problem, except that I'm on an Intel!! The error code was the same and everything!

This is so ironic, because I had a problem before where I installed a new version of FrostWire that didn't work, and it was like pulling teeth to get the previous version back. So ever since then I've renamed the previous one and not deleted it until I knew that the new version worked. But this time I thought, "Eh, screw it." The one time I didn't take that precaution, was the one time I should have. So darn ironic.

And as for what version worked for me, I think it was the one immediately preceding this one.

*EDIT*

Yep. 4.20.6 works just fine. And of course, it's asking me if I want to install the latest version. "Thanks, but not now".

NoriMori, can you see if you have installed Java 1.6? If not you should try updating your java vm and make 1.6 the default.

In the meantime we'll take a look at this issue and try to issue a repaired installer.
We think this is because the installer was built using the latest JVM from Apple and we may have not set a few backward compatibility flags on it.

With Snow Leopard, first Frostwire would not launch at all, but after replacing the gnutella file as directed in another thread, it launched, showed that it was trying to connect, but so far has never connected. I'm sure it's something that I'm doing wrong as others seem to have pretty good luck with getting connected.

We're working on a fix to get the Mac installer compatible again with 1.5

We have uploaded a new frostwire-4.20.7.dmg installer to our servers, please download and install.

Please tell us if the "java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: Bad version number in .class file" is still showing up.

http://dl.frostwire.com/frostwire/4.20. ... 4.20.7.dmg

You'll know if you have the correct installer if it has the following MD5 hash
