Snow Leopard users having trouble connecting or obtaining files using the new version of Frostwire 4.20.3? is cause every since Snow Leopard was released they removed your old friend Java 5 but there is a way to get back reunited with your old friend.
Before we get started a couple things you need to do or know:
1. Download the Java 1.5.0.22 32-Bit Patch at
http://drop.io/J2SE32Bit2. Create a folder in your home directory which is normally your username or etc... and name it java5
If you don't know your home directory tap once to your Finder application and hold down these buttons on your keyboard: Apple Command+Shift+G
This is going to drop down a box above you stating Go to the folder: within that box your going to type ~/ which is going to point into your home directory.
Within that home directory is where your going to create the java5 folder. Once you created the java5 folder you could check if it's created in the right location by holding down these buttons on your keyboard again: Apple Command+Shift+G & within the Go to the folder: box your going to type in ~/java5/ and is going to guide into the empty folder if you followed the instructions correctly.
3. Locating your Terminal.app within Applications which you are going to scroll down until you reach a folder stating Utilities which within that folder your going to find the Terminal.app
If you can't locate it within that method try holding down these buttons within your keyboard: Apple Command+Shift+G & within the Go to the Folder: box your going to type /Applications/Utilities/ and locate the Terminal.app within that path.
Ok now we got the basics out the way and should have already obtain and fully download the java.1.5.0-leopard.tar.gz from
http://drop.io/J2SE32Bit move that file into the Java5 empty folder so we could extract it with the Terminal.app
Now open up your Terminal.app and follow these exact commands
(Kindly do one line at a time when entering these commands):cd java5
tar -xvzf java.1.5.0-leopard.tar.gz
This should have extracted the file and left you with a folder stating 1.5.0 which you are going to make a copy and paste that into your Desktop location.
After you have made paste the item within your Desktop location now you need to move the folder into your System Java folder with entering more commands using the Terminal.app
(Kindly do one line at a time when entering these commands):sudo mv 1.5.0 /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.5.0-leopard
cd /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/
sudo rm 1.5.0
sudo ln -s 1.5.0-leopard 1.5.0
After you have move the folder into your System Java folder now you just need to open java preferences and you should be able to select Java5 as your default VM by typing one more command using your Terminal.app:
open "/Applications/Utilities/Java Preferences.app"
If you see a J2SE 5.0 pop up into your Java Preference Applications good job and see if Frostwire will work for you
but if didn't show up within that application then try this. The additional 1.5.0 folder which I told you to save onto your desktop your going to move this item into your /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/ which your going to paste it in there. If you can find the location type these buttons on your keyboard: Apple Command+Shift+G & within the Go to the Folder: box your going to type /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/ and drop the folder in there and this time it should pop up in your Java Preferences application.
Hopefully this tweak has helped you to use the new Frostwire application for Snow Leopard users.
