download speed

can anyone please tell me how i can increase my download speed?
I have broadband and it used to take approx 3mins for a mp3 and now it can take up to 3 hours!!!
any help would be much appreciated... cheers

I haven't heard of any Oz ISPs using traffic shaping, so that shouldn't be a problem. Who is your ISP? Are you sure that you haven't just gone over your monthly download limit (depending what sort of a plan you're on) & been booted back down to dial up speed?

Yeah dood ... sounds more like you've gone over your monthly limit. Why not log into your ISP site account page & check up how much you've used for the month. ISP's that shape bandwidths for limiting download capacities generally will still show your position on the map for how much you've used for the month. The higher the speed the moreso you'll be capped for bandwidth if you go over the limit.
