Is FrostWire Legal? (VIDEO)

Here's FrostWIre's Team answer to this never ending question.

(video transcript)
FrostWire is a file sharing application and media hub.

Using FrostWire and sharing files is absolutely legal -- let us illustrate why.

Almost everybody in United States drives a car. When people break speed limits, drive under influence or blow red lights, they put everybody's life in danger. This behavior, although itself illegal, doesn't make cars, or roads, or the act of driving illegal, right?

The similar logic applies to FrostWire. The application, file sharing and the internet in general are all legal, but you have to respect your local copyright laws and only share the content you have the right to. As a matter or fact, most people commit copyright infringement unknowingly while sharing files using their browsers, email or social networking sites.

It's not the tool, it's what you do with it that matters.

So how to share files the legal way, you ask?

Make sure to know your local copyright laws - they vary from country to country! Don't download copyrighted material without explicit permission from its creators & consume more Creative Commons Licensed and Public Domain content.

Just to clarify Frostwire software is totally legal and when you install frostwire on your device. You check off a disclaimer that you will not use frostwire for illegal use . So in the end it's the user responsibility and moral ethics what you use frostwire .

Quite legit explanation to the issue. Could not agree more. If you abuse something it always lands you in trouble.

So would Frostwire have anything fall back on them if someone was to be found doing illegal things with their software? Or is that like a CYA type of thing for it to check as a disclaimer.

Frostwire software is legal .
To break it down . When you install frostwire . You need to check off the disclaimer you as the end user . Will not use it in any illegal activity.
So you using it to other than it was legally intended for , You are accept the agreement and risk.

Hopefully that helps .

@RaymondLely

Think about it like this, is Ford or Toyota liable for people driving under the influence, breaking speed limits, running over people?

Is a knife or gun manufacturer liable for stabbings or shootings?

people are responsible for their own actions.

if you deleted the app, it's impossible that it's still seeding.
perhaps somebody is stealing your Wi-Fi and seeding files, or you have some other device seeding with either FrostWire or some other app.
