No Seeds. Please Help

Postby yesplease1 » Wed Jun 06, 2012 11:51 am

I hope someone can help. When I try to download using Isohunt the "allocating" or "checking" process will complete, but there will be no seeds to support so nothing happens. It stays at 0%. When I use anything other than Isohunt an error message shows in the "status" bar.

It simply could be there ARE no seeds. That happens all of the time. Try downloading from a different torrent.

Below is a magnet link for linux ubuntu. It is blazingly fast and well seeded. See if you can download that. Copy it and then start FrostWire and click file>open torrent or magnet. You should see that magnet link in the pop up window . Click OK. What happens?

magnet:?xt=urn:btih:bbb6db69965af769f664b6636e7914f8735141b3&dn=ubuntu-12.04-desktop-i386.iso&tr=http%3A%2F%2Ftorrent.ubuntu.com%3A6969%2Fannounce&tr=http%3A%2F%2Ftracker.ccc.de%3A80%2Fannounce&tr=http%3A%2F%2Fexodus.desync.com%3A80%2Fannounce&tr=http%3A%2F%2Fbigtorrent.org%3A2710%2Fannounce&tr=http%3A%2F%2F121.14.98.151%3A9090%2Fannounce&tr=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.h33t.com%3A3310%2Fannounce&tr=http%3A%2F%2Ffreetorrents.org.ua%3A2710%2Fannounce&tr=http%3A%2F%2Fbt.careland.com.cn%3A6969%2Fannounce&tr=http%3A%2F%2Ftracker.torrentbay.to%3A6969%2Fannounce&tr=http%3A%2F%2Ftorrent.ubuntu.com%3A6969%2Fannounce&iipp=4548f7e641a0

it is a linux distribution. It is free, legal, very well seeded and fast. I use it to test with. Apparently, your problems are not FrostWire but the torrents you've been choosing. I've had good luck using magnets from TPB and torrents from iso hunt.

You have demonstrated that your installation of FrostWire is capable of downloading, so the problem is to find good torrents to download from!

Good luck.

I am having the same problem so i decided to download linux ubuntu but once it finishes downloading it says "Seeding" except it never finishes. I am wondering if this is a problem with the computer or if I need to follow different steps. Please help.

I doubt that ubuntu would ever finish seeding. There are so many sources that the chance of you seeding 100% approach 0. I doubt that you'd ever see 10%. It is a download test, not an upload test. Many seeds will never get to 100%. You offer, if anyone can get it, they will, if not, they wont. Don't let that worry you.

Thanks, I was worried that if the files didn't finish seeding then they wouldn't work properly or something.

Technically, a file never finishes seeding. Some consider that sending 100% of what you downloaded constitutes "finished" since you gave what you got. WHEN I was counting, I'd go for 150%, figuring you need to pay back some as well a give what you got, but on rare, not popular, torrents, you will seed sporatically, but often heavily during a short period. On popular torrents, there can be 10 seeds to 1 peer, so your chances of uploading much are quite minimal. When I see a high see to peer ration, I suspend or cancel the torrent.

Once you have received 100% AND it has verified, you know that you have a functional torrent. How you seed back is preference and philosophy. If I want to support a torrent, I'll seed it even if there's no activity for some period of time. When someone comes on that does want it, my seeding will make it available.

You are going to have to be more specific on what problem you are having.

If you get an error on a magnet link, I think that usually mans that no sources can be found for the actual torrent via DHT or PEX. You can try from another site or you can try to find the torrent and load that. It can also mean that the magnet link is malformed or is not in a format that FrostWire can handle. Try another one or from another source.
