well title says it IM LOST i cannot find anything im looking for in this new update for Frostwire ive been looking for 3 artists past hour cant find any of them becouse of new GUI can somoene Upload older V. Frostwire for me becouse as i said i cant use this version(its confusing)

Since you don’t like the new version of frostwire, and nearly everyone that seems to try it doesn't (which I'll get to in a minute), you can install the old GOOD version of frostwire, V4, by going to the following link:

This is a link to frostwire V4.21.6 and NOT 4.21.8…the latest version of frostwire 4 turned off file sharing by default which made no sense whatever and was probably done in an attempt to kill off the music network that all of us built, and force users to switch to this new useless version of frostwire that’s torrent only.

Frostwire 5 is a 100% different program that only searches torrents…and the makers of frostwire have deceived all of us users and are trying to kill the old network that the old frostwire connected to…version 5 of frostwire finds only a FRACTION of the music of the old version and is MUCH harder to use for nearly everyone, which is what you also noticed as well…the frostwire forums are already filling up with complaints and they can’t ignore the millions of us forever…

PLEASE read the following messages in the frostwire forums, spread the word, post how you feel about what the makers of frostwire are doing, and make your voices heard:

In the meantime you can use the link above to download the old AMAZING and WORKING frostwire 4 and you can uninstall the cr*p useless new version 5 from your computer.

PLEASE NOTE: I'm posting this reply to several people who have complaned about the new frostwire, don't know how to get the old one back, and the frostwire makers have IGNORED their question (not suprised considering how many posts there are about the new version of frostwire being useless)

And just for your information Frostwire does host 4.21.8 at http://dl.frostwire.com/frostwire/4.21.8/ and you could use your energies to help users possibly install a fresh gnutella.net file .. alter certain of the preferences and make the alterations suggested in viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10766 which would be a lot more helpful than your current posts, several of which I would remove, but for the fear of being accused of stifling your free speech.

First off I ONLY responded to people who SPECIFICALLY asked, "I do not like FrostWire 5 at all, where can i download FrostWire 4." These were the ONLY messages I responded to.

Second off, I HAD to respond because YOU, the makers of Frostwire while you have responded to a few of these questions, in MANY cases you have NOT, have AVOIDED THEM, and have NOT told MANY people that have asked this question where to get the old version of FrostWire. This is sometihng you CANNOT argue with and are the facts. Look at the nunber of messages that I ahd to respond to!

Also, did I accuse YOU of spamming each time you make nearly the EXACT same post with YOUR opinion claiming that Frostwire V5 is better than V4? I can send you a link of DOZENS of posts where you do this, claim that "v5 is better than v4," try to convinuce people that V5 is better, and try to explan to them how to use it (most poeple still have no clue and still hate the new version based on the number of posts on here)

This is ABSOUELEY ridiculous...first you TRICK people into downloadin a new verison of frostwire that's NOTHING to do with the old vesion and is 100% different....then these people that were tricked realize what you guys did and want the old version back...then WE start a discussion about what THEY said (how much they don't like the old version, want to know where to get the old one back, etc)...and I GET accused of spamming?!?

If that's the case then why not make a DIRECT LINK on the FRONT page of Frostwire (not hidden somewhere that's impossible to find) for the countless users who have been asking where they can download the old version? Or at least have a sticky at the top of each section here that tells people, "if yuo're not happy with FrostWire 5 then you can download FrostWire 4 here". You've done NONE of these things.

And why not have BOTH versions on CNET and other software sites?

I'll tell you why, because the makers of frostwire are trying to FORCE people to use FrostWire 5 and ARE hiding FrostWire 4. Like I said...look at teh number of people that are uhappy with V5 and asked where to get V4...yes, you answered SOME of the questions as to where to ghet it....but not most of htem...I HAD to...it's ONLY fair to the users who are suffering now and were tricked into getting teh new version that's 100% different and then were NOT told by you where to get the old one...

I would tred very carefully here...do you see the number of "message views" and the number of people complaining about waat you guys are doing? With social media these days...the word is already spreading...so you can try to silence me, but you CANNOT silence the what looks like 90%+ of frostwire users that are pis*ed off by what you've done and continue to do...in the end, you might have to delete THOUSANDS of posts per day from here if oyu start deleting posts from everyone that starts a discussion about the probslems they're having with frostwire 5, how much they hate frostwire 5, and how much they awnt the old frostwire back...so sure, try to silience me, but you can't slience MILLIONS of us...one person on another messgae put it best (NOT something I wrote but SOMEONE ELSE)...somethign along the lines of "once you force people to upragde and they figure out what the new version is...you think you're already seeing a lot complaints? you'll see at least TEN FOLD shortly."

We have EVERY right to discuss the old/new debate, which is EXACLY what we've been doing. This is OUR network and NOT yours...you guys copied limewire, trciked users into gettign frostwire on teh promise that it'll be exactly like limewire...and now 100% changed it..made it worse...harder to use (loko at nimber of messages)...and has a FRACTION of the music...and in the end...you'll KILL what all of us built..

And WE have EVERY right to help each other out when someomne doesn't know how to get the old froswire back after they've been tricked into getting someting completely differnt...

I don't KNOW why YOU keep INFERRING that WE (being FROSTWIRE) are all OUT to GET YOU, but I THINK that YOU would DO better to ASSUME THAT PERHAPS THE FROSTWIRE developers KNOW what THEY are TALKING ABOUT.

I won't bother going through your entire message because it is about 95% incorrect and operates off the basis that for some reason the FrostWire developers owe you a better product. I'll say this:

FrostWire is a peer-to-peer filesharing program that lets you share files with your friends. That's what it has always been, that's what it is now, that's what it will remain in the future.

The changes made in FrostWire 5 (as has been stated by the developers) were necessary because too much development time was being spent on avoiding spam and not enough spent on moving the program forward. Had you chosen to set your ignorance aside and read dev team responses to posts on the forums perhaps you would have been able to understand this, however unfortunately like a small subset of users you've chosen to get on a soapbox and spew meaningless drivel about how you think you have a civil right to use FrostWire. With FrostWire 5 the development team overcame a huge obstacle: spam. Now that there is no longer a need to worry about that they will proceed to improve it (FrostWire) until it is once again the best filesharing software on the planet.

It will take time for FrostWire users to adjust to the new system. You seem to expect that everyone is supposed to instantly understand torrenting and how it works: this is not the case. We as a support staff are doing our very best to educate clueless users on the ways of the torrent so that they can again share files with the network, but it is taking a while.

Be patient and stop being annoying. We're doing the best we can and that's the most we can do.

The developers are absolutely stupid. I do not like torrents. I always end up downloading extra junk. I don't understand torrents, and I don't really WANT to understand them. I want my old Frostwire back where I can type an artist and song title in and double click and BAM it's in my iTunes. Perfection. I have uninstalled the newest version and reverted back to 4.21. Thanks to those who provide links to those who favor Usability than "developers" like Aubrey who are making a product that takes care of a "problem" that I haven't ever experienced. I don't think I've ever gotten spam downloads on the old version...

You do not have to download those files, in a torrent, that you don't want to download. You CAN select. I try to select torrents that have files I want, but if I can only find something is a much larger torrent, I'll only download that one. It's not that difficult.
