Frozen or badly lagging on loadup

When I open Frostwire I find everything either freezes or lags very badly. When I do a movie search I get ZERO responses and I can't delete previous searches...other than that it's working great.
I have the current version 6.6.2 (Build 251). I run on an Windows 8.1 with an Intel i3 processor running at 170 Ghz.
Any clues as to what might be causing me problems?

  • it might be that your search cache is way too big for your computer to handle.

    Go into Tools > Options > Searching > Smart Search

    Click on the button that says "Reset Smart Search Database"

    Then try doing one search at the time, you have an i3 CPU, and our search is very intensive both CPU, Disk and Network IO wise.
