How to recover YouTube search on FrostWire for Android

Why FrostWire for Android is not showing YouTube search results. (How to Fix)

In order to comply with Google Developer rules for Google Play we have been forced to remove YouTube downloading capabilities from the FrostWire version distributed on Google Play.

How do I get YouTube back?
A FrostWire Plus installer is now available outside the Google Play store at http://frostwire.com/android
without the imposed restrictions to let you access millions of Creative Commons and Public Domain works available on YouTube.

"Can't Open File" error ?

Google Chrome will refuse to open .apks.

We recommend you download the FrostWire Plus apk using Firefox, as the built-in Chrome web browser will only download the installer, but it will refuse to open it (another controlling way for Google to force people into using their app store)

If you don't want to install Firefox on your device, you can always attempt to open the FrostWire Plus installer using a file explorer, Google Chrome will refuse to open .apks.

Please don't punish us with one star reviews

We understand how stupid this decision may seem, the YouTube removal was something we were forced to do to continue distribution on the biggest market out there, there's over a month worth of updates on 1.5.0.

You still have the option to install the full featured app outside their app store absolutely for free, and this last update really took a lot of work and makes the app even better than before (it fixes 4 other search engines, removes lots of crashes, and uses less memory and CPU therefore less battery), remember YouTube is but one of many content sources FrostWire gives you access to.

We are already working on including more search sources, both BitTorrent and cloud based to offset the loss of YouTube content and will be still offering the full version – now named FrostWire Plus, on our homepage and in other App Stores.

If you have any questions please contact us, we'll try our best to answer promptly.
